Vitae:
Gábor Kiss began his career as a music teacher and a performer. From
1987 onwards he studied musicology at the Liszt Academy of Music in
Budapest and graduated in 1992. He has been on the staff of the
Department of Early Music in the Institute for Musicology in Budapest
since 1994. He obtained his CSc degree from the Hungarian Academy of
Sciences in 1998. In his dissertation he analyzed the medieval
Hungarian repertory of ordinary melodies in the context of Central
Europen traditions and also gave a complete catalogue of the Central
Europen ordinary melodies. He has been responsible for the digitization
of medieval sources since 1999. He publishes regularly on medieval
chant both in Hungarian and in foreign languages.
